Savannah Gamble is a dating coach and consultant who has been burned by love in the past.  Her profession is a direct result of an unfortunate one-night stand with a former college friend.  She rigidly sticks to the 12 dating rules she teaches in relationship seminars until a blast from her past shows up and challenges all those rules.  Lincoln Wells waltzes back into Savannah’s life and proves it’s much more exciting to break the rules and take a chance on love.

12 Steps is a light, fun read.  The characters are well-developed and fleshed out.  The reader gets a very clear picture of the events that shape Savannah and Lincoln.  Savannah’s family is laugh out loud funny and down to earth.  Savannah is likable and engaging, but can be completely oblivious at times.  You’d think someone trained in reading signals and body language would be a bit more self-aware.  Other than that incongruent character flaw, I liked her character.  I particularly liked Lincoln.  He knows he made mistakes in the past with Savannah and he devises a masterful plan to right those wrongs.  The series of research outings he plans were super cute and fun!

The storyline and plot were well-developed and carried out with meticulous precision.  The book is organized very efficiently.  I only have two major critiques:  The book lagged a bit in spots and the cover didn’t match my expectations.  I thought there would more heat and passion, but this is more of a clean, light-hearted romance.

Overall, the book is entertaining.  I rate it three-stars_0.
