This series has been an unexpected surprise.  A. Zavarelli was a new to me author before I started devouring the books in this series.  I’m very impressed by her writing!   Book 3 features the developing relationship between Talia and Russian mobster, Alexei.  Their story is completely unconventional, but these two flawed characters are absolutely perfect for each other.

I have to state upfront that this book is not for everyone.   This is definitely a dark romance and deals with sensitive subject matter.  The first few chapters feature very descriptive rape and abuse scenes.   If that’s a trigger for you, avoid this book.  The theme throughout, centers around Talia’s experiences after being sold as a sex slave.  Anyone sensitive to that subject matter will struggle with this book.    I actually struggled for a while, but knew it would be worth it in the end.   And it was SO worth it!  I love stories of redemption and over-coming unbelievable hardships.  Both of these characters have that in spades.   The story is both hard-breaking and beautiful.

Audiobook review:   In a word – Awesome!   Tracy Marks does a fabulous job making each character sound different.   The accents are definitely a nice touch!   She nailed it.

I rate it:  four-stars
