At first glance, stripping naked at my ex-girlfriend’s place of work might not seem like the brightest way to win her back. But trust me on this count – she always liked me best without any clothes on. And sometimes you’ve got to play to your strengths when you’re fighting an uphill battle. As a lawyer, I know how to fight, and I’m prepared to fight hard for her. I might have let her slip through my fingers the last time, but no way will that happen twice. *** He’s the one who got away… The nerve of Tyler Nichols to reappear like that, stripping at my job, showing off his rock hard body that drove me wild far too many nights. That man with his knowing grin and mischievous eyes is nothing but a cocky, arrogant jerk to saunter back into my life. Except, what if he’s not a jerk . . .? He’s the one I’ve tried like hell to forget but just can’t. Maybe I’m cursed to remember him. My money is on him being the same guy he always was, but what’s the harm in giving him a week to prove he’s a new man? I won’t fall for him again. But how do you resist the hot one…

◄◄ My Thoughts ►►

I really had to analyze my feelings after finishing this one.

Here’s the breakdown:  Tyler and Delaney were college sweethearts during their senior year.  They had explosive chemistry in and out of bed throughout their 1-year relationship.  Tyler unexpectedly ends the relationship and doesn’t look back.  Until a chance meeting in the park changes things, Tyler had always been the one who got away.  What’s a girl to do when the hottest guy she’s ever been with is also the one who broke who heart?  In an attempt to win another chance at Delaney’s heart, Tyler makes a bold statement as apology for his past behavior…but will it work?

That primary focus of the first 65-70% of the book is the past and whether these two should give it another go.  Unfortunately, I didn’t strongly connect with either character during that span of time.  My issues were primarily with everything else going on in the periphery and the lull. There was a bit of drag.  But here’s the real issue, Delaney and Tyler don’t really reconnect until late in the book.  It was a much slower start than I expected.  Again, this is a purely subjective review.  These are my opinions.

Here’s the good news…after the couple finally gets over their past mistakes and discuss the cause of their separation I started to engage more with each of them.  I enjoyed learning more about Delaney’s family history and why her career path changed so drastically.  I fell for how sweet Tyler behaves and really started to enjoy the story much more. Another major bonus were the multiple epilogues.  Totes loved those!

Here’s what I really enjoyed:

Tyler is sweet, honest, and a super fun character.

I loved getting to see Clay and how fatherhood is treating him.

Lauren Blakely is a master at writing super sexy scenes.  These definitely didn’t disappoint.

Overall, this is a sweet romance.  If you’re a fan of romance, Lauren Blakely should be on your list of top authors.  Although this wasn’t a top fave for me, I know others will really enjoy getting to now Tyler and Delaney.

I rate it: 3-5-stars
